“The Ha-Ha” by Dave King Published: January 2005 ISBN: 0316156108

From Dave King’s web site…
An unforgettable first novel about silence, family, and the imperative of love. Written with a luminous simplicity and grace, The Ha-Ha is a moving story about the cost of war and the infinite worth of human connection.
By page two I was "in" and I didn’t come out until it was over. And then I was heartbroken that it was.
This book is special in the same way that Wally Lamb’s I Know This Much is True is special and in the same way that Barbara Kingsolver’s Prodigal Summer is special. I suppose by that I mean that reading this book is like being someone else for a while and undergoing this wild transformation. An amazing book that I definitely recommend with a five out five hearts on my “couldn’t wait to get back to it scale”. |
