There is a new silver, called “argentium”, that is anti-tarnish but most of the silver around us, including the sterling used in most of my jewellery, tarnishes.
Tarnish is the result of silver reacting with the sulfur in the air the surrounds it or with the skin that touches it. So… depending on our environment, the season and the chemical make-up of our physical selves, this happens faster or slower for each of us.

Most of my jewellery is made of sterling silver, glass and semi-precious gemstones. Some of the beads are contemporary lampworked pieces, some are polymer clay, some are Bali silver, some are vintage. And, some pieces are made with gold-filled (different from and better than gold-plated :o) metal. The amulets are beaded with glass seed beads and usually some stones. We are all so wonderfully different, we wear jewellery so differently that sizing jewellery is important. And I have yet to meet an “average” person despite knowing that there are some lengths of necklaces and bracelets that will fit not most but many people. |
